A Month Later

To blog, or not to blog, that is the question. I really wish I had funny stuff or amazing adventures or anything interesting at all to write about, but I just don't.

We had a busy week last week getting ready for Kailyn's Dance Production with Shapes Dance & Acro. It was a fantastic show with tons of talented kids! Other than the fact that the BMS auditorium was 8000 degrees, it was a perfect night! My mom had bought some battery powered fans at Wal-Mart that saved our rears! On our way home from the recital, Kailyn asked me if she could have some chocolate ice cream when we got home. She'd done a great job, so I really couldn't tell her no, but it was well after 9pm, so I told her she could just have a little. After she scarfed that down, I tossed her in the tub to wash off all her makeup and glitter. I made the mistake of leaving the glitter on overnight 2 years ago, and with her eczema, she broke out in a rash everywhere the glitter touched! However, she had 3 sequin tops this year that scratched her up horribly on her underarms, so bathtime was a bit of a challenge. She had herself billigerently worked up and crying, so no matter how gentle I was being trying to help her wash the glitter off, she still yelled. Finally we got her out and covered her upper arms in neosporin! We got the kids put to bed close to 10:00pm, but Joe had to go to work at 12:00am to work the Relay for Life Event at MHS, so he stayed up. About 30 minutes after Kailyn layed down, she came in to my room and said her tummy felt funny. Being Mom of the Year, I told her she probably just needed to settle down from all that tumbling and being worked up in the tub, and just to lay down and rest. She had asked if she could sleep with me when she got out of the bath, and I had told her no, so I kind of figured it was just an excuse to try to get in bed with me. I'd say 15 minutes later, she said she felt like she was going to throw up, so we went to sit in the bathroom. We waited a bit and finally I asked if she wanted to try and lay down in my bed. Of course she said yes, but said we should "probably get a bowl or something because she didn't want to throw up in my bed". We went downstairs to get a bowl and stopped in the living room to tell Joe that she wasn't feeling well, when I heard her gag. I turned to look at her right when she grabbed the bowl and hurled like none other. Chocolate ice cream sucks. The good news is, after she threw up in the bowl and I rinsed it out, (as Joe was gagging and spraying air freshener and apologizing to Kailyn for thinking that the bathroom stunk) I asked her if she felt better and she said, "A lot better, I think it was just something I ate. It kept coming out in chunks of ice cream, I could feel it in my cheeks". Gross. So I made her a pallet on the floor in my room and she slept like a champ! Myer, not so much, but he's getting his bottom molars and it's not really working out very well. But after I gave him a 40 oz of tylenol, he slept like a champ too! ;)

Sunday we had our annual photo session with the ever-so-talented Kathy McCloy! We went to a few places, with our fingers and toes crossed that it wouldn't start pouring down rain. The good news is that it never rained, and the bad news is that Myer acts like a turd anytime someone gets out a camera. Kathy does amazing things with her camera, though, so I'm sure she at least got something out of the little turkey.....;)

Kailyn has Vacation Bible School all this week from 5pm-8:30pm and then an Orthodontist appointment Friday morning. Then she goes back to her dad's for her second 2-week session on Father's Day. Sheesh, my baby girl is SO BUSY! I love that she loves to be active and involved, though, I am very blessed to have healthy, happy children!
