Hooray for a 4 day weekend! However, setting the alarm clock last night and having to get out of my bed at a specified time this morning was a little rough. I definitely got lots accomplished over the long weekend and did some major lounging too. I mean, honestly, what am I going to do without a nap today? I also survived week #1 of Kailyn being gone.....barely. She sent this message Saturday:That's right, she is toothless! No yummy corn on the cob for my baby girl for a while :) I promised her I could cut it off! It seems that Myer gets more teeth every time Kailyn loses one. Right now he is working on some top molars. Those things are boogers! He's had kind of a hard time with them :(

I finished Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen, and it was FANTASTIC! I can't wait to watch the movie. (Not that having my "Edward" in it will help at all and I LOVE Reese Witherspoon) I wasn't really sure what to read next, so I went to the "Recommended For You" section at the Kindle Store. I was slightly intrigued by a book called These Things Hidden by Heather Gudenkauf, so I downloaded it. Let me just tell you, it is good! It is very well written and in a manner that you don't want to put it down. Each chapter is written from a different character's point of view and gives you so many different sides to the story. Heather Gudenkauf has another book The Weight of Silence, that has somewhat of a similar storyline to the one I'm reading now. I'm downloading it next! Recently I read a couple of books by Pam Lewis, as well, and I wasn't sure how I felt about them at first, but they both ended up being pretty good. I've got a list of books going now that I'm going to try out. Maybe a couple of Sara Gruen's other books and an author named Carol Cassella, who is said to write similarly to Jodi Picoult. I know I should probably be doing something more productive, like working out, when I put the kids to bed, but I really consider that my "me" time and would much rather read! Since I got my Kindle for Christmas I've read 10 books. These Things Hidden is number 11. Only one of them was a flop and took me a really long time to read. I finished it, but it was terrible. I do not recommend The False Friend by Myla Goldberg.Well, it's only a 4 day week, so I'd better get my rear in gear! Have a great week!

Finales and Premieres

I wanted to wait to blog this week and make it a big mamma-jamma! What a week this has been.....

For starters, I've had enough of severe weather. I'm sure everyone in the states of Missouri, Kansas and Oklahoma are saying the same thing, but honestly. Last night I actually slept soundly for the first time since Sunday. I've been laying awake praying all the nights in between! To add to the stress of the weather situation, Kailyn left Sunday to go to her dad's for her first two weeker of the summer. So of course, as I'm missing her terribly and feeling sorry for myself that she's not with me, tornadoes threaten to take out everyone I've ever known. Did I mention that some sort of alien stomach parasite overtook my body around 8:30pm on Sunday night? I have never been so sick in my life. NO MORE! I'VE HAD ENOUGH! Thank goodness for quality reality tv to help keep my mind somewhat busy.....

Hines and Kym won Dancing With the Stars! They were really good all season. I wanted Mark and Chelsea to win, but Hines and Kym were definitely a top choice too. I do think that Kirstie Alley held her own and was very motivational with her weight loss, but it's a DANCING competition.
Olivia Ward won Biggest Loser! OMG she looked fantastic! And so did her sister Hannah! They were my favorites all season and they were so supportive, dedicated and positive, I'm so happy for them! They were also the first sister team to make it to the finale together, and they took 1st and 2nd - AMAZING! There were a few disappointments on the Live Finale too, though. I guess my biggest let down was Courtney. I really expected her to be fit and trim and still doing great on her journey, but that wasn't the case. She had only lost like 8-10 pounds since leaving the ranch and didn't seem as dedicated. Father/Daughter team Moses and Kaylee were downers too. Moses was the first contestant on the ranch to lose 100 pounds before being eliminated, but hadn't lost much more than that when he hit the scale for the last time. And Kaylee.....oh, Kaylee. She was one of the smaller girls on the show to start with. She'd been hitting big numbers and then plateaued when she gave up. One week she wanted to go home and the next week she wanted to stay. Drama. I was super excited when she finally left and honestly didn't believe her whole spill about how she'd "learned so much and was going to be so wonderful at home". When she was eliminated, she'd lost a total of seventy-some pounds, and when she weighed in on the live finale she'd only lost a total of fifty-some. Doing good at home, Kaylee? Yikes. And then there's Rulon. The Olympic Medalist Wrestler who couldn't believe how much weight he'd gained and had let down his family, friends and fans. Of course you know that my husband is a wrestler through and through. Obviously we were both immediately drawn to Rulon and were sure he was going to be amazingly dedicated and blow the competition out of the water! Right. Was that before or after he got caught eating a whole bag of tortilla chips in his room, or before or after he just came to a weigh in and said, "Well, I'm ready to home, I've learned all I need to, bye". He didn't even have the courage to show up to the finale. I so wish he would have. I bet he's gained all his weight back! He was supposed to be such an inspiration to athletes! Disappointment.
Don't get me wrong, so many contestants looked great and they truly are dedicated and so motivating! What amazing stories!

I wasn't very impressed with the performance show of American Idol, but the actual finale was a totally different story! I think the consensus around the world is, "Why the hell didn't more people vote for Pia, Casey, James and Haley?" They, along with the other previously eliminated contestants, stole the show last night! I mean, Congratulations Scotty, but he and Lauren may not have been there for all I know, I was partying with the experienced, entertaining singers!
Speaking of which, did you see Steven Tyler?! LOVED IT! A Rock Legend he is for sure, and just as amazing today as 38 years ago! That's right, Dream On was released in 1973 and he still sounds that freaking awesome in 2011! He is THE MAN!

Um, did you happen to see Lady Gaga perform? So I get it, she's pretty "unique", but I do like her music. Her stage performances are a bit much, though. I can deal with her crazy clothes, fine, but she truly acted like she was having sex with her dancer on that rock! Holy cow! Kids watch American Idol too, you know! Sheesh!Speaking of the dancer she almost had sex with, it was Mark, a past contestant and last season All Star from So You Think You Can Dance! He's one of her primary dancers! Crazy! PS, So You Think You Can Dance starts TONIGHT! I'M SO EXCITED!!!!! I'm also excited that today is my Friday and we don't have to come back to work until Tuesday! It's like a mini-vacation! I'm going to do some reading on Water for Elephants, which is pretty fantastic, and play with my baby boy tons in hopes of not bawling all weekend because Kailyn still has another whole week at her dad's! Ugh, I'm hopeless :( but I sure do LOVE MY BABIES!
Please stay away, yucky weather, and let us all have a relaxing long weekend ;)

Late Bloomer

Oopsy, it's been over a week since I blogged last! I haven't even been super busy or anything, just lazy.....or boring, whichever you prefer. Along with our normal routine of school, work, dance and play, Tuesday was one of my besties' birthday! Cathy has hit the big 3-0, now we're just waiting on Erica (but she has another year ;) We went to Springwater for an awesome planting class on attracting butterflies and I definitely learned a lot. Not even just about butterflies, but about planting in general. Did you know that to determine how many plants to plant in your pot that you measure the pot across and divide that by two? Well I didn't! I have been totally underplanting my pots!!!!! Well not Tuesday! We all planted some really cute pots and then headed for some mexican food on the patio at Los Tres. It was a super fun night! Happy 30th Birthday, Cathy!Kailyn's dance pictures are this Friday and I'm freaking out. Seriously. I can't fix cute hair :( I did a tester on her last night, and she said she really liked it, but the more I thought about it, I didn't. I'm going to try a different one tonight that I think will be more versatile for the Production and hope she likes it!I haven't watched Biggest Loser from Tuesday (Cathy's birthday), but I'm excited for the finale next week. I'll definitely have time to catch up before then, considering it's supposed to rain until the end of eternity starting today. I am also looking forward to the finale of American Idol, I think. Tonight will reveal the top two. I'll be stoked for the finale if Haley Reinhart makes it! I LOVE HER! And after Idol, So You Think You Can Dance will start back up! It is, by far, my FAVORITE show!!!!! YAY!Guess I'd better do some work. Maybe in the midst, I'll think of some clever and witty things to blog about.....but I wouldn't hold your breath.

Queazy

So let's be honest. Motherhood has a billion perks, but there are days that are maybe not so pretty. I knew these days would come. I don't gasp when my children fall and scrape their knees, I clean out their ears, noses and diapers and I can clean up puke with the best of them. Am I a superhero, you ask? Is there anything I can't handle, you say? Teeth. Loose ones to be exact. Honestly, why are we given teeth that need to fall back out? Isn't that the same concept as an appendix or tonsils. You don't need them, but they can cause you pain and you have to have them painfully removed? That makes no sense. I don't like it.
Now when Kailyn lost her first two teeth, I got super lucky. If you'll remember, her adult teeth came in before her baby teeth fell out, so we had to have the baby's pulled. This past Friday night, Kailyn stayed the night with her BFF Adi. She stayed most of Saturday also, and they played the whole day away! Mandi and I talked around mid-afternoon and she said she had some news before Kailyn came home. Ayson and Kailyn had had a slight run in on the trampoline and, while Kailyn's two front teeth were a bit wiggly, the front right one was now only hanging on by a thread. At this point in the conversation, I dropped the phone and threw up four times. As soon as she got home, she showed me how the tooth could bend perpendicular to her gums and I threw up three more times. She and Joe promptly went downstairs with a rubber glove (Joe's idea to get "traction" on the tooth) and wet washrag and when she started hollering out in pain I threw up again. They didn't get it out, so we went ahead and went to Papa and Grammy's house for supper. Throughout the night, she pushed it back and forth with her tongue and fingers, so I decided just to carry around a plastic bag so I could throw up at random. We came home around 9pm and put Myer into the bath. I was picking out the kids' clothes for Mother's Day brunch, when Kailyn said, "I got it, Mom". I said, "You got it out?" and she said, "No, I've got ahold of it and I need Joe". I ran faster than I've ever run before and shoved Joe out of the bathroom, only stopping him as I pelted him in the back with a wet washrag (nobody likes blood on the carpet). I shut the door behind him, turned on the room ventilator fan and sang songs to Myer at the top of my lungs in between fits of vomiting. By the time I got Myer washed up and out of the tub, Kailyn opened the bathroom door like this:They did it! Well, Joe pulled it and Kailyn let him! Thank goodness the Tooth Fairy had cash in her wallet, because she usually doesn't. By the way, I puked 47 times while writing this as I relived the whole gut wrenching ordeal. I hope the rest of them just fall out.....

Day of the Mother

A Mother's Love

by Michael O. Adesanya

There are times only when a Mother's love
Can understand our tears,
Can soothe our disappointments
And calm all our fears.

There are times when only a Mother's Love
Can share the joy we feel
When something we've dreamed about
Quite suddenly is real.

There are times when only a Mother's faith
Can help on life's way
And inspire in us the confidence
We need from day to day.

For a Mother's heart and a Mother's faith
And a Mother's steadfast love
Were fashioned by the Angels
And sent from God above...

Kickin it Old School!

After an action packed week of birthdays, my friends and I kicked it old school at a 30th birthday celebration for 3! Mandi, Miranda and I all turn 30 within a couple weeks of each other, and decided to bring down the house with an amazing 1980's skating party! I believe the new concensus is that we have a themed skating party at least once a year! We all had a freaking blast!By the way, in case you live under a rock, Osama Bin Laden is DEAD! Woot Woot! You can run but you can't hide you crazy nutbag! I know, I know, violence doesn't end violence, but honestly, do you know how many people died at the hands of that douschebag? Not just ours, his own too! That dude didn't give a crap about anyone but the voices in his head and the world is a better place without some looney tune brainwashing innocent children into killing machines for his insane domination plans! And honestly people, OBL's death is obviously an American victory. I've not seen any coverage where President Obama said he personally killed OBL, so get over it. Everyone is always looking for a reason to hate him in some way. It's just the way people are, if we had another president, they'd look for reasons to hate that person too. GET OVER IT PEOPLE! Let's rejoice in our freedom and be thankful for those who fight for us to maintain that freedom (with their orders coming from our president)! We are a great team, this United States of America, let's act like it! I am 100% proud to be an AMERICAN!
